The United Kingdom is set to celebrate a special extended four day bank holiday from Thursday 2nd June to Sunday 5th June, to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee. On the 6th February this year, Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. This marked 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth.
During these four days, numerous celebratory events will be taking place around the UK especially in our beloved capital, London. We believe there is no better spot to celebrate this Platinum Jubilee weekend than the top of the tallest building in the UK, The Shard. At The View from The Shard you will be able to escape the hustle and bustle of the celebratory streets of London whilst still being able to embrace all the city has to offer. You will have a birds eye view of all the events taking place amongst the city so you can ensure you are still involved in the party.
There are numerous events occurring in London this weekend and we want to make sure you keep your eyes peeled for them from the top of The Shard! Check out the below schedule to see what is taking place throughout London this Platinum Jubilee weekend:
Thursday 2nd June:
There will be the Queens Birthday Parade that will start at 11am. This parade will have over 1,200 officers and soldiers from the Household Division and around 240 horses putting on a display of military pageantry. During this parade, a royal gun salute will also be fired. This annual event has occurred for over 260 years to mark the official birthday of the British Sovereign. Once the parade has concluded, the Royal Family’s balcony appearance will happen. Whilst this appearance is occurring there will be a stunning Flypast. Why not head up to The View from The Shard and see if you can spot the flypast from a birds eye view, all the while indulging in a delicious glass of Moet and Chandon champagne – we are celebrating after all!

Friday 3rd June:
At St Paul’s Cathedral there will be a service Thanksgiving for The Queens. Great Paul will be rung for this service, marking the first Royal occasion for this bell to be rung. Why not head up to Level 72 to our open air sky deck and see if you can hear it for yourself?
Saturday 4th June:
On Saturday evening there will be a Platinum party at the Palace. Famous faces from across the world are being flown in to celebrate a night of musical tributes and entertainment. Can you spot the bright lights of the palace from The View from The Shard? Or just have a Platinum party of your own at the top of The Shard with our delicious cocktails and bar nibbles!
Sunday 5th June:
Over ten million people across the United Kingdom are expected to be participating in the Big Jubilee Lunches during the Platinum celebration weekend. This nationwide act of community friendship aims to celebrate friendship, food and community! Keep your eyes peeled from The View from The Shard and see how many Big Jubilee Lunches you can spot across the capital!
